Lord & Schryver Conservancy – Our Story
The Lord & Schryver Conservancy is a Salem-based nonprofit whose mission is to preserve, interpret and steward the legacy of Lord and Schryver for public enrichment. It was established in 2005 with a early focus on archiving their many personal and business records.
In 2015, thanks to generous community support, the organization purchased Gaiety Hollow, Lord and Schryver’s personal home, garden and studio located at 545 Mission Street in Salem, Oregon. Since its purchase, the garden has been restored to its period of significance and the site developed into a cultural/educational center for the community. The property is on the National Historic Register because of the garden and its association with Lord and Schryver.
The Conservancy offers programs including lectures and workshops and may be rented for educational and cultural events. The gardens are open on select days or by appointment.
